Select Select Payee on the Winfiler menu bar. Select the desired payee.
Select the Return from the Return Type drop-down box; select the Add button to the right of the selection. This will open the Return screen.
Enter the information on the Return Information tab. For selected returns, select the Dollar Amounts tab to enter data.
Select OK to save and close the return.

Step 4: Add a Transaction* (1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC, 1099-R, and W-2)

On the Payee List, select the Add button in the transaction area in the lower right corner.
NOTE: The Add Transaction button is only available after a return has been added.
Input the necessary information on the Transaction form; select OK to save and close the Transaction screen. Use the Go To button to toggle between the transaction and the return.

From a Previous Version of Winfiler or Winfiler Plus

Backup all data before importing. Importing will overwrite all data related to Payers that are imported.
Select File > Import > Previous Version of Winfiler or Plus.
Follow the step-by-step instructions ("Import from previous" wizard).
Enter the state information; select OK.
Select OK to save and close the Payer Information screen.

Years prior to Winfiler 2012 and Winfiler Plus 2013 are not compatible with Windows 8. In order to transfer data from a previous version of Winfiler or Winfiler Plus, we recommend using the Backup and Restore feature in the File menu of the software. The import From Previous Version option will not function as the prior years of Winfiler and Winfiler Plus cannot be installed on Windows 8. With the release of Winfiler 2013 and Winfiler Plus 2014, the Import From Previous Version will be available for use again.
